Police use many abbreviations and codes on the radio and for day to day work.

- Police Job Type Codes - Used to indicate the type of incident when the job is first received
- Police Status Codes - Used to indicate unit status messages.
- Police Result Codes - Used to indicate the result of a job.
- Police Event Closing Codes - Assigned when the job is attended or resulted by an officer, better defining the type of job.
